Edgematics Group and BACG Announce Strategic Partnership to Accelerate Data Modernization Across Canada

Toronto, Canada, 20th May, Wednesday.
Together, the two companies will help Canadian enterprises modernize data infrastructure and build the data foundations needed to run AI at scale.

Edgematics Group, a global data and AI consultancy, and BACG, a Canadian technology advisory company, have formalized a go-to-market partnership to serve enterprise clients across Canada’s financial services, telecom, and retail sectors.

The partnership pairs Edgematics’ delivery infrastructure and proprietary platforms, PurpleCube AI for data orchestration and Axoma for agentic AI orchestration, with BACG’s established Canadian client relationships and deep knowledge of the local market.

Why Now, and Why Canada

Canadian enterprises are running into the same wall at the same time. AIDA and Bill C-27 are tightening the regulatory floor. OSFI’s B-13 guideline has moved third-party and data risk from a compliance line item to a board conversation. Quebec’s Law 25 has put data residency into every renewal discussion. And every CIO in this country is being asked the same question by their board: what is our AI plan, and is our data ready for it?

For most organizations, the honest answer is no.

Gartner has 60% of AI projects being abandoned due to data quality. Cloudera and HBR put the share of enterprises that are genuinely data-ready for AI at 7%. McKinsey has 88% of enterprises deploying AI without seeing enterprise-level ROI. The pattern across Canadian banking, telecom, and retail is consistent, ambition is not the problem. The data foundation underneath the ambition is.

That foundation is what this partnership exists to build.

When we started BACG, we made a deliberate decision not to build a generalist practice. The firms that win in this market are the ones that go deep on a specific problem and own it. For us, that problem is data modernization, and Edgematics is the right technical partner to build around.

Canada has scale, capital, and ambition. What it has been short of is a delivery model that combines local accountability with global engineering depth. That is what this partnership puts in front of Canadian enterprises, a team that understands the business and regulatory context here, with the engineering engine to back it up. The pipeline is real, the work has started, and the market is ready.

Sajid Pathan, Managing Partner, BACG

I have spent 25 years inside the data layer of Canadian enterprises, at Talend, at iWay, at Information Builders, at TIBCO. I have had the same conversation with the same organizations for two decades. The conversation has not changed. The technology finally has.

What I see in the Canadian market right now is a closing window. Legacy contracts are coming up for renewal, regulators are tightening, and boards are asking AI questions that the data underneath cannot answer yet. Canadian enterprises do not need another generalist consultancy. They need a partner that has done this work, in this market, on stacks that look like theirs, and that can move at the speed the moment requires.

PurpleCube AI is the strongest platform I have seen for getting pipelines built and running without the multi-quarter runway legacy tools demand. Axoma gives clients a credible path to agentic AI deployment without forcing them to start over. Pairing those platforms with Canadian delivery and Canadian context is the partnership I would have wanted ten years ago. We are building it now because the window is open now.

Tara Myshrall, Partner, BACG

Canada has the ambition. It has the scale. What it hasn’t always had is a partner with the depth to turn infrastructure modernization into real business value, quickly, and without false starts. Across banking, telecom, and retail, we’re seeing a clear pattern, the data advantage compounds faster than most organizations realize. That’s exactly what this partnership with BACG is built to deliver.
